NP203  International Benchmarking Network for Water & Sanitation, IBNET Benchmarking
The World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID) and WRc worked together to produce an international performance comparison scheme linking national and regional benchmarking schemes.

For both developed and developing countries, IBNET uses web technology to provide users with direct access to organisations and water sector performance data from which they can learn and benefit.

The IBNET web-based network of national databases now provides cost and performance data from >600 utilities in 50 countries.

IBNET also provides the IBNET Benchmarking Toolkit that includes guidance on a standard set of indicators and supporting data, and data entry and indicator calculation files.

Benefits

Internationally comparable information and data will help water and sanitation utility managers in the management of their utility. It will also help national policy-makers with knowledge and experience from other comparable situations.
